Gliclazide, molecular formula C15H21N3O3S, is a sulfonylurea oral anti diabetes drug. It is white crystal or crystalline powder, odorless, tasteless, and used to treat type II diabetes, and β Cell sulfonylurea receptor (SUR1) binds and further blocks ATP sensitive potassium channels. Therefore, the outflow of potassium is significantly reduced, resulting in β Cell depolarization. then, β Voltage dependent calcium channels in cells open, leading to the activation of calmodulin, which leads to exocytosis containing in-sulin secretion granules. It can also effectively improve the antioxidant status and nitric- oxide mediated vasodilation in patients with type 2 diabetes, and protect the pancreas β Cells are protected from hydr ogen peroxide damage.
